In 2007, this Southeast Asian country became the site of Mount Hermon’s first direct ongoing missions partnership. Since that time, operating under the auspices of the SBC’s International Mission Board, we have sent four different teams of short-term mission volunteers to serve in Cambodia. Our volunteers have performed a wide variety of tasks, offering needed support for our ministry colleagues there, while also sharing Christ’s love with the people of this predominantly Buddhist country.

Cabaret, Haiti

In 2012, we began a fruitful new mission partnership with the Cabaret Baptist Children's Home, a ministry established and operated by the Jacksonville (Florida) Baptist Association.  In 2013, a team from Mount Hermon went to Cabaret to work at the orphanage, participate in revival services at a local church, and lead the first ever Vacation Bible School at a school in nearby Te Nwa.  Subsquently, our church "adopted" the Te Nwa school and many of our people have been instrumental in contributing funds to help build a newly-completed classroom building there.  In 2014 and again in 2015, we sent multiple teams to minister at Te Nwa.  In addition, several of our church members are also now providing monthly sponsorship for a significant number of children at the orphanage.

Strabane, Northern Ireland

In 2008, a Danville area family moved to the Emerald Isle to engage in a new church planting effort in the town of Strabane, Northern Ireland, near the Republic of Ireland border. For a period of years, Mount Hermon supported this effort financially.  In 2009, our own Josh and EB Mark traveled to Starbane to assist with the work.  In 2010 and 2012, Pastor Danny and Sandy also visited the new church plant.  In 2012, a mission team of college students from Mount Hermon traveled to Strabane and participated in a local outreach effort to the community as well as other work projects.

Mount Hermon has been a generous financial supporter of the Albanian Bible Institute (ABI), a ministry training school under the directorship of IMB career missionary Lee Bradley. Located in a cultural context where only on a small minority of the population has a personal saving knowledge of Jesus, ABI has the vision of impacting Eastern Europe for Christ by providing discipleship support for local churches, and biblical training for future ministers, leaders, and church planters.  In 2015, Pastor Danny and Sandy led a small group  of American pastors to Albania and neighboring Kosovo to lead simultaneous revival meetings in several churches affiliated with ABI.

Mount Hermon has a connection to Christian work in Cuba through our pastor's relationship with a number of Cuban nationals. Pastor Danny and Sandy have been personally involved in short-term mission work in Cuba since 2002. They led Mount Hermon’s first team of volunteers to the island in 2008.

Whitley County, Kentucky

As part of our "Reaching for the Summit" emphasis, Pastor Danny challenged us in 2011 to embrace a new mission partnership with his home area in the mountains of Appalachia.  In 2012, we began a series of mission trips to Whitley County, Kentucky, working with a number of different mission partners, including the University of the Cumberland's Mountain Outreach, which builds homes for low-income families, and the Canadatown Community Fellowship, a new church plant. Over the past few years, we have sent several teams to the area, making a positive impact through our work there.

Greenville, South Carolina

Since 2010,  Mount Hermon Baptist Church has sent a series of youth mission teams to serve in the Greenville, South Carolina area. Our youth have worked in a number of different churches and settings, performing a variety of tasks, including Vacation Bible Schools, outreach events, block parties, concerts, and service projects.  Our aim has been to assist our mission partners in seeking to reach their community for Christ.

Bland, Virginia

In April 2013, we sent our first ever Mother/ Daughter Mission Team to work with The Bland Ministry Center and Dental Clinic in the mountainous western part of our state.  Our team of volunteers worked at the Center while also providing assistance to a short-term Dental Team serving local residents at the Clinic.

South Dakota

In 2009, working in partnership with the Heartland Baptist Association, our collegiate ministry, under the leadership of Josh Mark, made the first of a series of three annual mission trips to the town of Waubay in the eastern part of South Dakota. In 2010, we sent an adult mission team to the western part of the state to do construction work for a church in the small town of Dupree.

Honduras (Friends of Barnabas)

While not a direct missions partnership of our own, our church has a long association with the Virginia-based Friends of Barnabas Foundation (FOBF), a ministry that works exclusively in the Central American country of Honduras. Several times each year, FOBF teams conduct medical clinics in the country’s remote mountain villages. A Danville-based team, which typically includes several Mount Hermon members, travels to Honduras each April.

Local Missions

Mount Hermon has a heart for our community and local missions.  Our goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our community.  We do this by partnering with many different local missions organizations, as well as holding our own community outreach events and service projects.  In 2012, as part of our "Reaching for the Summit" emphasis, we did a series of successful block parties in a number of different locations throughout the Danville area.   This has opened the door to other local outreach opportunities that we are continually pursuing.  In 2013, we launched our own "Good News Club", an afterschool ministry to children that meets weekly at nearby Twin Springs Elementary School.  This new venture has successfully impacted children and families from throughout our community.
